More course information

For those who love to analyse language and explore the purposes and styles of lots of different texts. From a Shakespearean sonnet to a crisp packet, you'll learn how to analyse the linguistic components of a range of English 'texts'. You will learn about how different social groups use language in written and spoken texts. You will learn about key frameworks used in English language such as grammar, semantics and pragmatics. This is very different from GCSE English Language, although there are some very creative aspects to this course, you also need to apply an enquiring mind to a variety of texts and be prepared to analyse in a systematic and methodical way.
