As in the A level course the content of further mathematics consists of core and applied units. The core units entitled further concepts for advanced mathematics form the basis of the studies at this level. Two of these units are required for certification at A level namely (FP1 and FP2). Studies include matrices, complex numbers, graphs and proof by induction. Four applied units are then required, subject to the fact that at least two units must be A2 standard, and hence will have already been studied at AS level.
