The Intermediate Apprenticeship is designed to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to provide effective support for teaching and learning in an educational setting and will meet the needs of learning support staff whose responsibilities at work are closely supervised. Staff will be working under the direction of the class teacher whose lesson planning and day-to-day direction set the framework within which the individual works. Job titles include: teaching assistant; classroom assistant; learning support assistant; additional needs assistant; pastoral/welfare support assistant; bilingual support assistant; foundation stage assistant. The framework consists of a Level 2 vocational qualification, functional skills English Level 2, Maths and ICT at Level 1 and ERR workbook.
