More course information

The main emphasis of the course is on the development and progression of a personal portfolio of work in response to various design briefs. This is achieved through the initial development of illustration skills, use of typography, computer-aided design, printmaking skills and the gradual development of more individual ways of working. Graphic Design is a highly commercial art form and therefore you are helped and encouraged to keep up-to-date with current trends in the associated Graphic industries such as graphic design, illustration, publishing, web design, branding, advertising identity and moving image/animation. The study of other artists and designers' work, both traditional and contemporary, plays an important role in the development of coursework and encourages you to broaden your subject knowledge and understanding. Specialist staff provide regular constructive feedback and as the course develops you will gain an increasingly confident and independent approach to your studies. Our links with Sheffield Hallam University will provide the opportunity for more advanced workshops and Degree-level taster sessions. This course will allow you to develop the ability to communicate ideas visually; a skill which is transferable to many careers.
