More course information
The caring professions offer a variety of rewarding careers working with adults or children in the community. With a national shortage of qualified care professionals, there could be no better time to work in the care industry. This course provides students with the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of the subject and develops skills in the health and social care sector.
Students complete four units over the two year course on human lifespan development, working in health and social care, meeting individual care and support, as well as principles of safe practice in health and social care. There is also an optional work placement of at least 50 hours.
The BTEC Health and Social Care course is suitable for anyone who wishes to progress to a range of professions such as counselling, childcare, social work, nursing and other social care and health professions. It will also provide students with transferable skills and knowledge which can be used in many other careers.
