The Pearson BTEC National Extended Certificate in Sport is an Applied General qualification for post-16 learners who want to continue their
education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment in the sport sector.
Students will complete four units over the duration of the qualification. Three of these units are mandatory and must be passed to complete
the course. The units students will study are Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being, Professional Development in the Sports Industry and Sports Psychology.
This qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to meeting admission requirements for many courses if taken alongside other qualifications as part of a two-year programme of study. This qualification will also look to develop employability skills that are essential for progression in to the sport sector as a career. The three categories covered will be cognitive and problem solving skills, intrapersonal skills and interpersonal skills.
