During this course you will have the opportunity to work towards a national qualification designed to recognise progress towards independence and support you to develop the knowledge you need to be as independent as possible.The course will cover basic cookery techniques and everyday food and drink preparation including: ƒ?› Identify different methods of cooking.ƒ?› Recognise different equipment needed for cooking.ƒ?› Use equipment and utensils in a safe manner.ƒ?› Recognise health and safety issues needed for cooking.ƒ?› Make and serve hot or cold drink (s).ƒ?› Prepare simple dish (es) using different cooking methods.ƒ?› Clean equipment and utensils, storing them safely and clearing up the work area.ƒ?› Explore healthy alternatives and make choices.ƒ?› Recognise how to store food and drink.ƒ?› Make choices about which dishes will be prepared.ƒ?› Improve confidence and social skills through participation in group discussions.ƒ?› Use ICT, number, communication, reading and writing skills
