The specification gives students the opportunity to: Be innovative and creative to design functional objects to meet people's needs; produce high quality graphical designs showing a variety of drawing techniques; develop an understanding of the iterative design processes and show this in your folio work; take into account the influences of historical and current practice of designers and their iconic products; apply knowledge and understanding of production processes; develop an understanding of industrial practise, scales of production and commercial legal information; use ICT and CAD/CAM to enhance their designing and folio work; the ability to use Maths formulae and Science skills and to develop essay techniques for the exams at the end of Year 13.
