Economics provides students with a detailed understanding of how the world they live in works, from the purpose of interest rates, the determination of prices, how different levels of competitiveness come about and affect us, the distribution of income and wealth, why Governments set taxes, and much more. Economics underpins our lives every single day and students get the chance to study the intricacies of this. Fundamentally the course content is never fixed, what is taught is shaped by what is happening in the current moment. If students go home and watch the news or read the newspaper, it is very likely something from that will shape the next lessons they have in Economics, it is totally rooted in the real world. The course provides students with an excellent complement to those interested in History, Mathematics, Finance, Banking, Business, Human Geography and plenty of other fields of study and work.
