Within the AS course you will learn about:

The methods of exploring and understanding spoken and written language in use
The way power is represented in spoken and written texts
The way power is presented in interactions, for example in interviews and debates
How gender is represented and reproduced in everyday texts
How gender is influential in conversation, and what theory has to say about the role of gender
How the varieties of language are shaped by modern technology
You will be expected to create a number of texts for specific audiences and purposes

At A2, you will study:

How children from 0-11 years acquire language
How and why the English language has changed over time and the impact of this change.
An aspect of language you have a particular interest in, with the aim of producing an investigation
You will also produce a media text, such as a magazine or newspaper article, on a chosen topic.
