The course includes the study of poetry and prose, including texts from 1800 to the modern day. Students study two prescribed novels, a drama text, a specific poet, and a collection of non-fiction texts focused on Paris. They will also have the opportunity to work on recreative writing of a set text. Studying Language and Literature at A-Level requires determination, organisation and a willingness to discover things for yourself.

Students are assessed by a combination of essay based coursework (20%) and examinations (80%). In year 13 you will carry out an independent study into a theme or technique that is used across both fiction and non-fiction
