Why choose English Literature?

English Literature is a subject which is exceptionally well received by universities and employers alike. It is one of the core ƒ??facilitatingƒ?? subjects favoured by the best universities in the country. Good performance at A level provides a very sound base for a surprising number of degrees and professions and helps to develop analytical as well as creative skills.

What does the course involve?

Throughout the course, students discover how to engage with a range of different forms of literature and how to critically interpret authorial devices with creativity and flair.

Students will be expected to read from a wide selection of texts, including work by:

1) William Shakespeare
2) Tennessee Williams
3) Christina Rossetti
4) Angela Carter
5) Mary Shelley
6) John Webster
