Our A-level English Language and Literature specification draws on the academic field of Stylistics in order to create an integrated English Language and Literature course which brings together literary and non-literary discourses. This specification integrates literary and linguistic fields via shared concepts about the way language choices create representations, both in literary and non-literary texts.
At AS, candidates will develop integrated literary and linguistic analysis through the study of set texts and the anthology. Students will develop their own analytical writing skills and develop their understanding of analytical terminology as well as exploring the use of language and style in a text. Students will produce their own writing based on the study of a range of writing genres as well as critically evaluating their own productions.
