This is a One year programme for learners with moderate learning disabilities/difficulties. Learners will study an Entry 2 course called Preparing to get a Job (Laser Qualification). The programme will be taught at our Hive Centre which is on our Winchester Campus site in Compton, just south of Winchester. At the end of the first year learners you will have an opportunity to apply for a second year on the programme. The programme is designed to give a flavour of working on an enterprise activity while maintaining the development of English, Maths & IT and personal and social skills. The programme will cover the following topics: Catering and Hospitality Horticulture Craft Skills Enterprise skills Employability Skills Learners will take part in a non-accredited programme to develop preparation for adulthood themes. Learners will choose their own priorities to work towards Employment, Independent Living, Healthy Living and Community, Friends and Relationships targets. Learners will be encouraged to develop their practical skills alongside developing appropriate business and promotional skills with college sales on main site and in the local community. Embedded within this programme will be team working, assertiveness, confidence building, managing money in relation to working a budget, marketing and advertising. We will be undertaking a range of activities linked to seasonal times of the year to support the development of enterprise projects. There are times that we explore into the community to collect information for our enterprise products, unfortunately independent travel training is not continued due to the location of the centre. Learners will be assessed as the programme progresses and they build up a portfolio of evidence. All assessment will take place in class at the appropriate time.
