In Year 12 and in Year 13 the EPQ will be available to all students as an independent piece of work undertaken with the support of a project supervisor (a teacher). The course normally starts in the late autumn once you have settled into your Sixth Form studies. The completed project will need to be submitted by the spring term in Y13. All students retaking English GCSE (with Grade 3 or 4) will be strongly encouraged to enter for the Extended Project Qualification because we believe that by effectively managing an individually chosen project students will learn and develop essential skills to help them succeed in their A Levels or BTECs. The study of academic writing and research will also support Level 3 study. The EPQ will be timetabled alongside the English re-take, with one period a week for EPQ and 2 for the retake. There is an option to complete the Level 2 qualification if this is more appropriate. For English GCSE resit students the EPQ is delivered in Year 12 of your Sixth Form study.
