The new Fashion Design 'A' level Textiles course is tailor-made for enthusiastic, energetic and creative students who are inspired by the colourful and tactile world of fabrics, components and textile techniques. This course is an exciting opportunity for students to work in response to the world around them and evolve their own personal style by designing and making their own collections.
After an initial introduction to the course, students will develop their knowledge, understanding and skills through an holistic approach of research, practical work and visits. Recording their work through sketchbooks students will be encouraged to reflect upon their own design work and the design work of others. They will develop their ability to analyse and evaluate. With its broad approach, this course is delivered in our well-resourced workshops. Our students will gain experience of printing & dyeing, embroidery, felting, knitting and weaving. They will be given the opportunity to showcase their own work.
During the course students will acquire integrated knowledge, skills and understanding of:
‹?ú the creation and development of fashion design ideas through drawing, sketching, digital designing and the preparation of toiles or samples to test ideas
‹?ú the appropriate skills to combine and explore a range of materials and components
