Students with A level Geography will have access to a wide range of possible careers and higher education opportunities. The skills used within the course are in high demand both in industry and at university level. Students would be able to embark upon a range of careers such as the Armed Forces, Meteorology, Environmental Science, Anthropology, Town Planning, Disaster Emergency Planning, Police, Geology, Management, Computer Mapping, Teaching and Engineering.
This course is suitable for people who would like to:Acquire and apply knowledge and understanding of physical and human process; develop and understanding of the inter-relationship between people and their environments; understand how decisions are made about the use and management of resource and environments.
Units of Study:
Physical Geography - Water and Carbon Cycles; Hazards; Cold Environments.
Human Geography - Changing Places; Global Systems and Global Governance; Population.
Geographical Fieldwork Investigation - Students compete an individual investigation which must include data collected in the field. The individual investigation must be based on a question or issue defined and developed by the student relating to any part of the specification content.
