The maintenance operations apprenticeship framework has four key elements
. Competence: Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Maintenance Operations. This will be completed through the development of a portfolio of evidence, that demonstrates ability in the work place. This will be supported by the employer providing a work based recorder and from the college with an assessor who will assess in the work place; assess submitted work and review progress. Where there is no previous experience this element starts around the second term in year 1.
. Knowledge: Level 2 Diploma in Maintenance Operations. This is completed through attendance at college one day per week to gain knowledge in relation to working in Construction and more specifically bricklaying and to also develop practical skills for the work place.
. Transferrable: English and Maths study is expected where students do not hold a GCSE grade in these areas at above grade 4. On this framework study at level 1 is to be completed for both English and Maths and is typically studied on block towards the end of year 1.
. Employee Rights and Responsibilities: This is a small award that forms a core element to the framework and is delivered during induction or towards the end of year 1
