This qualification focuses on practical skills and knowledge. It covers the intermediate level knowledge and understanding of a broad range of engineering competencies required by someone working in the engineering industry. The qualification covers a wide range of subjects including electrical and electronic engineering welding engineering maintenance engineering mechanical engineering pipework systems mechanical engineering electrical/electronic engineering and maintenance engineering.This qualification is for those: with limited prior knowledge and understanding of the engineering sector but have the ability to achieve an intermediate level engineering qualification who wish to progress to become an engineer (e.g. maintenance engineer mechanical engineer welder and/or fabricator or an electrical and/or electronic engineer etc.) are thinking about engineering as a career but who would like some experience of the job role first who are new to the industry or looking for a career change or wish to learn new skills.
