If you care about young people and would like to embark on a career working with children of up to 5 years of age then this course is for you. This programme will equip you with the necessary skills knowledge and expertise to work as early educators in children's centres primary schools and nursery schools. You will study a range of subjects including: professional development using reflective practice and effective study skills; child development and the effective use of observation and assessment; principles of safeguarding; theories that underpin practice in the early years sector; supporting children's speech; and communication development. You will study a total of 14 units over the two years. You will also be required to attend work placement on a weekly basis to achieve the required hours of the course: 375 per year (a total of 750 placement hours are required as a minimum over the two years).
