Measurements and their errors - use of SI units, limitation of physical measurements, estimation of physical quantities.Particles - The atom, stable and unstable nuclei, particles, antiparticles and photons, particle interactions, classification of particles quarks and antiquarks, conservation laws.EM radiation & quantum phenomena - the photoelectric effect, atomic collisions, energy levels, wave-particle duality.Waves - progressive waves, longitudinal and transverse waves, superposition, interference.Mechanics and materials - force, energy and momentum, moments, motion along a straight line, projectile motion, Newton?s laws, work and power, conservation of energy.Materials - properties of solids, Young modulus.Electricity - current electricity, characteristic graphs, resistivity, circuits, potential dividers, Emf and internal resistance.Further mechanics and thermal physics - Periodic motion, Motion in a circle, SHM, thermal energy transfer, ideal gas, kinetic theory model.Fields and their consequences - Gravitational fields, gravitational potential, orbits of planets and satellites, electric fields, capacitance, magnetic fields, EM induction.Nuclear Physics ?scattering, types of radiation, energy and mass.An Option module chosen from one of the following: Astrophysics, Medical physics, Engineering physics, Turning points in physics or Electronics.
