Crime studies seeks to bring social and physical scientists together to investigate the nature of crime and ways to reduce it. The new requirement for the Policing Education Framework for the year 2020 includes a need for new applicants to be at foundation degree level and applicants require a level 3 qualification in order to access this.This course aims to provide a broad understanding of crime and the criminal justice system, whilst also addressing the psychological techniques used by investigators to assist in the detection of crime. It will enable those learners more interested in the more social aspects of crime to study modules which motivate them and more closely meet their university and career aims.As a learner on this qualification you will be offered a coherent, integrated and supported year of study of modules which address some of the core issues in psychology, criminology, crime scene investigation and policing necessary for successful undergraduate course in the study of crime and associated fields. The course aims:?ÿTo provide HE progression opportunities for adults who, because of social, educational or individual circumstances, do not have the necessary qualificationsTo give learners a general introduction to the basic concepts, methods, and key areas of knowledge within investigations and procedures within the criminal justice system, and offer a coherent and stimulating framework within which they can broaden their intellectual outlook and make connections between subject areas;To help learners to develop and consolidate the various skills required to enable them to cope successfully with the demands of undergraduate study and to become independent, self-directed learnersTo establish a positive and supportive learning environment within which learners can build their confidence through successful learning and the sharing of their experienceIf you successfully complete the qualification you will achieve a QAA recognised Access to HE Diploma.
