Sociology is the investigation of society. It offers a real insight into everyday behaviour which makes us see our world in a new light and realise that things are not always what they seem. This fascinating, contemporary course focuses on the interaction processes which occur between groups of people throughout our society and the impact that social structures such as political, legal, family and education systems have on these interactions. Differing sociological perspectives offer varying explanations of human behaviour and you will explore and debate theories including Marxism and Feminism. A keen interest in world affairs and issues relating to class, gender, ethnicity, equality and prejudice is essential.
