This course builds on the studentƒ??s experience from Key Stage 4 to enhance knowledge and understanding of the factors that affect performance and participation in physical education. It offers students the opportunity to experience and develop an interest in a variety of roles in sport such as performer and leader.
The course will address current contemporary topics such as sport and society and technology in sport but also key topics such as skill acquisition, applied anatomy and physiology, biomechanical movement, exercise physiology and sports psychology.
The course content is designed to follow on from GCSE physical Education, enabling a smooth transition from one to the other, although it is not a requirement to have studied physical Education at GCSE level.

Written Assessment: (70% of the overall mark). One, 2 hour examination paper.

Practical coursework:
Assessment in one practical activity as a performer or coach (15% of the overall grade).
Analysis and Evaluation of performance (15% of the overall grade)

A2
Written Assessment: (70% of the overall mark).
Two 2 hour examination papers: paper 1 and paper 2.

Practical coursework: (30% of the overall grade). Assessment in one practical activity/sport as a performer or coach (15% of the overall grade)

Written analysis of performance (15% of the overall grade)
