More course information

This course aims to incorporate the Alexander Technique with traditional Hatha Yoga. Injury or illness can cause lower back pain and lack of movement in your body. There is a tendency for the body to tighten and prevent movement in areas of pain. Balance is often affected which can result in a loss of confidence. The course involves a gentle, individual approach to the yoga poses, focusing on how your own body relates to the poses, identifying the areas of stress and pain, concentrating on balance, breathing and meditation. During the course you will be helped to incorporate the basics of the Alexander Technique into the traditional poses of yoga. What is the Alexander Technique? The Alexander Technique is about taking the tension out of the body and this is translated into the yoga poses by relaxing into the poses to allow lengthening of the body, regaining balance and taking stress and tension out of the body.
